“CONTACT LEFT!” shouts the team leader.
Soon after, the Point Man returns fire while the rest of the team stays behind cover. The goal is to return fire while committing the least amount of resources to the fight while they assess how large & how capable a force they are up against.
“Contact left side, 150 meters! Two enemy dismounts! Small arms, machine gun nest!” The Point Man shouts back the 3 D’s to the Team Leader who then relays the details to the other men.
Now that they are certain of their situation, the Rifleman prepares to join the Point Man in returning fire. They should be able to overwhelm an enemy force this small even with the presence of the machine gun nest.
